The Left vs. The Constitution
Professor Rosa Brooks of Georgetown University Law School is making headlines for her view of the Constitution. During an interview on MSNBC this week, Brooks declared:
“We are essentially slaves to a document that was written more than 230 years ago by a tiny group of white slave-owning men. And we cannot break out of the bondage that we have imposed on ourselves. . . everything by our Supreme Court is decided in reference to this ancient document which is just not serving us well.”
Not long ago, a professor saying such things would have been fired as unqualified to teach at one of America’s premier law schools. But today, it gets you interviews on cable news networks, and naive students pay more than $100,000 a year to be taught such nonsense!
Even more disturbing, is the fact that her view seems to be the prevailing view of the American left.
Remember when Nancy Pelosi laughed off questions about Obamacare’s constitutionality? Another frequent MSNBC commentator recently called the Constitution “trash.”
It’s hard to think of a provision of the Constitution that progressives aren’t attacking or undermining.
They are at war with the First Amendment’s guarantee of the free exercise of religion, with the freedom of speech and the right to assemble. They are at war with the Second Amendment right to own a firearm to protect your family.
Progressives and many neocons are at war with the separation of powers and the safeguards the Founders intentionally put into the Constitution to prohibit large states from dictating their values on every state in the union.
A day rarely goes by when some prominent leftist doesn’t call for the Senate to be changed or abolished altogether, for the Supreme Court to be changed or for the Electoral College to be abolished.
The whole point of the leftist insurrection against our Constitution and our republican form of government is so they can eviscerate all the checks and balances, including the filibuster, in order to impose their radical agenda on America.
And of course, they are also at war with America’s founding and our history all at the same time.
Is there another free country in the world in which a significant political party is at war against its own country, its history and its system of government?
Is there another free country in the world where its elites viciously attack it on their most significant national holiday? Does this happen in France on Bastille Day?
In addition to attacking the Constitution, the left is also undermining the concept of citizenship. Joe Biden’s open border policies are an obvious surrender of our national sovereignty, allowing millions of illegal aliens to enter the country.
At the same time, New York City and other left-wing cities are trying to let non-citizens vote in our elections. And the Biden Justice Department is in court right now trying to strike down an Arizona law that requires proof of citizenship when you register to vote.
Why on earth would Biden’s Justice Department want to stop Arizona from ensuring that its elections are secure and free of voter fraud? What does that tell you?
The left is running around right now with its hair on fire screaming about threats to democracy. Well, there’s no greater threat to democracy than compromised elections!
